PLAY_platform for film and video berlin annuncia la presentazione del nuovo lavoro di Mona Vatamanu e Florin Tudor ''August (Imposibila iubire / L'amore impossibile)'', prodotto da Fine Arts Unternehmen AG. La presentazione del nuovo film avverrà in contemporanea con L'inaugurazione della mostra l'8 Dicembre 2007 nel nuovo spazio di Berlino in Torstraße 218.

''Il progetto 'August (Imposibila iubire / L'amore impossibile)' è la continuazione fittizia di un film rumeno degli anni '80 che s'interroga sul significato dell'amore durante il comunismo in Romania (Imposibila iubire, diretto da Constantin Vaeni, con Tora Vasilescu & Serban Ionescu come protagonisti, sceneggiatura tratta dal libro di Marin Preda ''Intrusul/ L'intruso''). 25 anni dopo l'uscita del film originale, uno scrittore contemporaneo, T.O. Bobe, ha costruito una nuova situazione partendo dal testo originario, nella quale i due protagonisti si scambiano lettere raccontando cosa è successo loro durante questo periodo di grandi cambiamenti politici in Romania. Il fatto che il romanzo era stato ispirato da un evento reale e che il film aveva una fine aperta ha ispirato gli artisti a legare queste storie con la vita reale. Nello stesso tempo si di reflettere su cosa è sucesso a nostra communità.''

August (Imposibila iubire / Impossible Love) è stato prodotto con il premio conferito da Fine Arts Unternehmen AG. Mona Vatamanu e Florin Tudor erano i premiati del premio FAIR PLAY nel 2006.

Nella stessa mostra viene anche presentato 'Intalnire cu Istoria / Appuntamento con la storia'.
''Il film si tratta di una ricerca sui simboli. Si portebbe difenirlo come una ricerca di un nuovo simbolo per vecchie utopie. Nel film presentiamo la lettura del libri 'Il capitale' di Karl Marx, riferiendosi alle lezioni di economia a scuola durante gli anni del communismo in Romania. Tutti cercavano di evitare questi lezioni mentre c'era il sistema communista. Dopo che il communismo è stato sostituito con un neo-liberalismo, la gente ha cominciato a vedere il libro e isuoi contenuti in un altro modo. Adesso, leggendolo come un pezzo di storia, non possiamo far altro che sentire una certa complicità tra la persona che sta leggendo e la persona che sta guardando.Questa idea del 'leggere insieme' è stata determinante per noi per cominciare con questo progetto.''

PLAY_platform for film and video berlin is delighted to present the new film by Mona Vatamanu and Florin Tudor, August (Imosibila iubire / Impossible love), produced by Fine Arts Unternehmen AG. The presentation of the film and the exhibition opening will take place on December 8, 2007 in our new space in Berlin, Torstr. 218.

“The project is a fictional continuation of a Romanian film from the ‘80s, questioning the meanings of love during communism (Imposibila iubire, directed by Constantin Vaeni, protagonists played by Tora Vasilescu & Serban Ionescu, script based on the novel Intrusul/ The Intruder, written by Marin Preda). 25 years after the original film was made, T.O Bobe, a writer from our generation, constructed textually a new situation in which the two protagonists exchange letters, telling what happened to them during these years of political changes in Romania. The fact that the novel was inspired by a real event and then the film had an open end, led us to the idea to try to reconnect these stories to present life, in an attempt to reflect on what happened to us as community.“

August (Imposibila iubire / Impossible Love) has been produced with the prize in money conferred by Fine Arts Unternehmen to Mona Vatamanu & Florin Tudor, winners of the first price of the 2006 edition of FAIRPLAY.

“Appointment with History consists in a research related to symbols. It could be defined as searching for a new symbol for old utopias. In the film we performed the lecture of the book Das Kapital by Karl Marx making references to the politics of economy lessons in school during communist years in Romania. Everyone avoided those classes and topics while being in that system. Later after communism was replaced by neo-liberalism in our country, we begun seeing differently the book that nearly changed our world. Now while reading it back as an item of history, we cannot avoid this sense of complicity between the reader in the film and the person watching it. This idea of “reading together” was determinative for us to work on the project.“
