A series of abstract drawings and a painting that could be described as both metaphysical and meditative, and the specific titles emphasize the importance that Hall places on the interchange between the text and his works.
Green on Red Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of work by Patrick Hall. Patrick Hall had his first solo exhibition at the Green On Red Gallery in 1995. This exhibition includes a series of drawings and a painting.
"Everything that matters on the human journey is beyond knowing. It’s a process of unknowing, of discovery, of surprise" – Patrick Hall, Drawings (2007)
The titles of Patrick Hall’s recent works: Yellow Mountain, The Eagle of Courage, Moment of Truth are indicative of Hall’s philosophical exploration of the nature of ‘being’. They could be described as both metaphysical and meditative. The drawings themselves are abstract and the specific titles emphasize the importance that Hall places on the interchange between the text and his drawings.
The drawings are emotionally charged and the colors result not from an arbitrary idea but from the inner experience of the artist who throughout his practice has created drawings and paintings of sensorial richness, working on forms and with colors that accentuate the inner sanctum of the artist. The philosophical underpinnings and iconography of Hall’s drawings and paintings invoke a continuous narrative that is consistent throughout his practice. The drawings provide images of metaphors, ideas and stories providing the audience with an insight into Hall's view of the human experience.
