Clari Netzer's new exhibition was opened on Sunday, December 30, with the honorable presence of the City's Mayor Mr. Adi Eldar. As part of the festivities held worldwide celebrating Frida Kahlos's Centenary birth, Clari Netzer chose to homage the remarkable Mexican painter in the city of Carmiel, where she resides. Besides the Painting Exhibit, Clari Netzer will give a conference and presentation on Frida Kahlo's life and art. Clari Netzer has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist at absolutearts.com since October 2007.
For Clari Netzer, Frida Kahlo is a daring and innovative woman, moved by her singular personality, passion and peculiar sense of humor, she was pride of being "Mexicana" , she broke taboos questioning herself identity .and treating subjects exclusively related to women, in particular those surrounding the female body and female sexuality,
Clari and her family, Carmiel residents (North of Israel), were exposed to the war in July-Aug 2006, autobiographic moments became afterwards the subjects of her paintings. Netzer shares with us her own meaning, as woman and as mother, to an imposed reality, in her paints she uses symbols as a woman in black and white, reminding an old photograph, against energetic background.
In remarkable opposition to the paintings influenced by the war, Clari introduces us to her outstanding artworks where the elements, movement and composition are powerful and colorful, providing us with a small taste of Mexico, where she was born.
Clari Netzer was born in Mexico, she immigrated to Israel in 1983 and since 1992 she resides in Carmiel. In her own way Clari intends to give answers to questions regarding her identity as Israeli-Mexican, as a challengeable and ambitious woman living in constant struggle.
