Artist's slow, meticulous way of painting brings together a cerebral approach to realism, abstract and folk art influences, a sense of burlesque as well as a strong spiritual commitment.
CĂ©line Berger grew up in Southern France, and later moved to Paris where she graduated from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in 1997. She now lives and works in Moscow.
Although she sometimes does videos and installations (her last solo show in Moscow was an experimental project made up of card board houses and electric lightings inspired by the soviet era animation films) she is mostly focused upon painting. Her slow, meticulous way of painting brings together a cerebral approach to realism, abstract and folk art influences, a sense of burlesque as well as a strong spiritual commitment.
Her paintings which are incredibly rich, have an immediate visual appeal as well as a formal and a narrative complexity that shows a highly original and long approach to painting.Celine Berger took part in various group shows in France and in Russia in the last few years.
