comunicato stampa

In his debut appearance at The Gallery at 3rd Ward, Adam Collison presents a provocative body of work that is at the same time grotesque, tantalizing, gentle and lovely. He's showing new paintings and a collection of drawings produced over the course of his career. Simple in form and tempered with humor, these deviant and disturbing drawings are loaded with content. Whatever the medium, there is an unmistakable sense of conflict and a piercing touch of honesty in everything Collison produces.

It's Not Their Fault: Works by Adam Collison will be on view at The Gallery at 3rd Ward (195 Morgan Avenue, Brooklyn) from February 8 – 29, 2008. An opening reception will be held on Friday February 8th from 7 – 10 pm. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to midnight and weekends from 9 am to midnight.

"Adam Collison is a really nice person. He comes from a good family and has been very lucky. Some people think he is charming. One really good thing about him is that he is very compassionate. He likes people of all sorts and really wants those kind of people to like him. " - Anonymous

"Did you know that when a male wolf engages in sexual intercourse with a female, the glans (head) of his penis becomes engorged with blood like a balloon as to make certain that the female cannot escape once he has inserted? This phenomenon, which is an apparent glitch in evolution, can lead to the very painful and long-lasting experience (as the wolf's penis often fails to deflate) of the male and female being attached at the crotch for extended periods of time. Often the male will attempt (unsuccessfully) to dismount while still in such a condition resulting in the two animals appearing to be joined at the rear. This can go on for hours. I thought maybe you should know. Sometimes we already know enough and hearing/reading more does us no good." - Adam Collison

Adam Collison has a wide variety of interests. His work ranges from the figurative, with an integration of European and American influences, to the abstract, accepting a wider range of influences with a focus on minimalism and action. For more information visit http://www.adamcollison.com.
