A group of acrylic on canvas works by Pamela Jorden will be on view. These paintings made of loose but articulate networks of painted lines privilege the leniency of the human hand as the marks establish a geometric logic. Jorden is open to the cross-associations of her work to written and spoken language. By invitation of the artist, Dave Hughes will give a reading in the project space on December 15th.
Future points once past
Beginning December 8th a group of acrylic on canvas works by Pamela
Jorden will be on view. These paintings made of loose but articulate
networks of painted lines privilege the leniency of the human hand as
the marks establish a geometric logic. Jorden is open to the cross-
associations of her work to written and spoken language. By
invitation of the artist, Dave Hughes will give a reading in the
project space on December 15th.
the following is a statement from the artist:
I think about painting as a process, a process of drawing lines that
is both visual and physical. An accumulation of drawn lines weaves
into space, but they also exist on the surface. Lines may be like
elements of a narrative, a fragment, a word, a piece. I am interested
in following the trajectory of a line as it traces or leaves behind
handwriting, or a map, a graph, a grid, a construction, a design, a
language, an idea. Each painting is a proposition, a possible space.
Within groups of paintings, I think about mutable logics, how a
particular hand or process working through a system of arrangements
might deviate. The paintings become arrangements of interruptions
that may develop something absurd to a logical conclusion, but also
suggest how sense (an idea of space) can approach nonsense.
