Cumulus. Inside the photographs of the artist we look at ice fields and rain, powerful ocean waves and wind in lilac, and we mean to hear it murmur. We behold ancient paintings with her and witness how she photographically takes possession of them.
The Kunstverein in Glückstadt presents works of the artist Dörte Eißfeldt with photography from 1988 to 2008.
With Dörte Eißfeldt, we look at ice fields and rain, powerful ocean waves and wind in lilac, and we mean to hear it murmur. We behold ancient paintings with her and witness how she photographically takes possession of them. The pictures are mostly taken in her surroundings. They are focal points – like the dust particle in a raindrop – and form the basis of her works. Dörte Eißfeldt experiments with the photographic picture. Sometimes it turns out to be a film or sometimes something pictorial.
The artist teaches free photography at the University for Applied Sciences in Braunschweig and time and again asks herself and her students the question: What is a picture and how becomes something a picture?
