Gone City was initiated to explore engagement with the urban environment and its local agency as a key to questioning social and political forces in relation to culturally specific conditions. In doing so, this project seeks to unfold the issues of tomorrow while bringing them into the creative sphere by means of a proliferation of approaches.
This enables the mapping of a “conceptual forcing”, whose function suggests open forms as regards the possibility of the production of the “new”. Herein lies the query of the politics of production, where the attributes are the matter of the production of culture’s space/place in this modality.
Each participating artist presents different artistic positions informed by various cultural and geo-graphic constructs that manifest a progressive outlook on creating new possibilities within creative practice.
