Black and white photographs. The internationally known photographer is considered one of the most important chroniclers of the famous city on the Bosphorus. In his works, he especially concentrated on Turkey in the fiftys and sixtys and with his focus on humanity in every day life, he developed a new style in Turkish photography.

Ara Güler, known in his hometown as the eye of Istanbul, is a living legend. The internationally known photographer is considered one of the most important chroniclers of the famous city on the Bosphorus. In his works, he especially concentrated on Turkey in the fiftys and sixtys and with his focus on humanity in every day life, he developed a new style in Turkish photography. The exhibition presents black and white photographs and invites the public to explore Turkey through Ara Güler’s sharp lens. Ara Güler, born in 1928 as a son of an Armenian pharmacist’s family in Istanbul, has been awarded numerous prestigious international awards. A part from his famous photographs of Istanbul, Turkey and his reportages of the Middle-East, he also portrayed many celebrities from culture and the public sphere.
