The Battle of Valle Giulia: Photographs by Fausto Giaccone" chronicles the events leading up to and following the historic student protest at the Valle Giulia School of Architecture at the University of Rome in 1968. The protest and resulting clash with police became a flashpoint for the Italian student movement and has since become known as the "Battle of Valle Giulia" - a poignant confluence of architecture and social activism.

The exhibition features the work of Fausto Giaccone, an architecture student at the School in '68, now a photographer based in Milan. Born in Tuscany in 1943 and raised in Palermo, Giaccone's career as a photographer was one of many shaped by the events of 1968. Made possible by the generous support of Raymond Lifchez, Mary Margaret Jones & Doug Argue, and the American Academy in Rome. Special thanks to Martin Brody, Stephanie Hom Cary, Roy Fowler, Lucio Maniscalchi, Daniele Turchi, Fotogramma 24, and Aldo Culluto Telai e Cornici.
