The events of 9/11/01 and
thereafter have
stimulated a desire to see as well
as a
plethora of images to show us.
This
exhibition is comprised of
photographs that
came across our desk in the last
few weeks.
We hope this spontaneous project
fulfills
this desire without a laborious
search and
curating process that we feel could
do no
better.
They address two rather
direct
outcomes of these events.
One is
that we
are at war with Afghanistan, in the
past a
place that one referred to when
needing an
example of a place that was alien,
foreign
and remote but still on this earth.
The other
is the ubiquitous appearance of the
flag in
the usual and more unusual places
with its
mix of connotations, from
patriotism and
solidarity to that of political
comment and
protest.
