Ruthann Godollei, Alexa Horochowski, Lee Anne Swanson, and Carolyn Swiszcz.
Paintings, prints, mixed media and installation work by four Minnesota artists are featured in this exhibition. These artists are known for their innovative use of materials and narrative irony.
Ruthann Godollei decodes patterns of family and social dysfunction in sparse, scratchboard drawings and monoprints. Alexa Horochowski scrutinizes the institution of marriage in a multi-sensory laundry room equipped with bubbles, a working wringer washer and clothesline. Lee Anne Swanson combines a huge, moody painting with a line of waist-high skirted tanks containing glitter-covered mechanical duck decoys. Carolyn Swiszcz reveals her love for accidental gesture and flexible materials in a giant eraserboard mandala.
