After fifteen years as landscape designer and carpenter, Israeli born artist,
Shlima Handel returns to his love of art with a series of acrylic paintings on canvas. These new paintings were an inspiration from a visit to the Island of Mauritius in the
Indian Ocean where his father, Fritz Handel was a detainee by the British from
1940 - 1945.
Shlima made his mark in Israel in the 1960's after his graduation from the
Bezalel School of Art. A student of the world renowned master of the woodcut
form, Jacob Pins, Shlima is known for his dramatic woodcuts and drawings in
black and white.
