Interno metafisico. This new piece is named after a series of work by de Chirico, and more precisely his Thebes (1928), a figure that is a recurrent reference also in Paolini's work. The exhibition is held in the project room of the gallery.
Yvon Lambert Paris is pleased to announce an exhibition by Giulio Paolini. A
direct link to the Giorgio de Chirico exhibition at the Musée d¹Art Moderne
de la Ville de Paris (February 13 May 24, 2009) to which the artist made a
contribution in the catalogue.
Interno Metafisico will be exhibited in the Project Room of the gallery.
This new piece is named after a series of work by de Chirico.
The exhibition will include an installation pointing to de Chirico's Thebes
(1928). Using Thebes is a recurrent reference in Giulio Paolini's work,
having already made an installation at the MART Rovertero inspired by the
same painting. Such reminiscence reveils the passionate admiration Paolini
holds for de Chirico which has been ongoing since he first discovered his
work in 1969.
The presentation of Interno Metafisico will coincide with the publication
of the catalogue raisonné Paolini, Catalogo ragionato 1960-1999 (Skira,
Decembre 2008) available at the Yvon Lambert bookstore.
