The Italian Cultural Institute of New York dedicates the month of March to contemporary art through a series of exhibitions by renowned and emerging Italian artists.

¿que estás esperando? is a site specific installation by Mariella Bettineschi.
Having grown up in a conceptual background, Mariella Bettineschi, a versatile artist with a sound academic grounding, explores different relationships with the surrounding reality using a variety of methods and materials, looking above all into the compositional links between paintings, sculpture, architecture, photography and computer art. Her “objects” in glass, metal, wood or paper, shiny or covered by acrylic colors, always ambiguous and intense, revert back to Neo-constructivism and Minimalism, without excluding Conceptualism and a refined artistic flair.

Paolo Mussat Sartor was born in Turin (Italy), where he currently lives and works, in 1947. In 1965 he began his activity as a photographer, and in 1968 he started documenting the artistic events that took place during those years.
Considered the photographer and narrator of Arte Povera; his archives provide a rare insight into the historical development of Arte Povera over the years through his portraits of artists such as Mario Merz, Daniel Buren, Giulio Paolini, Tony Cragg, Andro Wekua, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Jenis Kounellis and Gilberto Zorio.
This singular journey into “artists’ places” provides the chance to discover some of the most representative personalities in contemporary art in their creative environment revealing their intimate relationship with the places where they lived and worked .
The exhibition is curated by Andrea Bellini of Artissima- Italy.

Dust Jacket “ Vol.1 is a site specific installation by the collaborative pair Isola &Norzi and Andrea Galvani.
Hilario Isola and Matteo Norzi have worked together since 1999. They are the winners of LMCC Workspce Residency Program 2008/09.
Their artistic endeavor, based on open-ended experimentation and collaboration, explores different and undefined fields of representation.
“Time erosion” and “space taming” are the conceptual terms and formal instruments that the artists use in order to lead viewers towards a broad reflection on trespassing, destination and purpose.
Andrea Galvani was born in Verona (Italy) in 1973 and he graduated at the School of Fine Arts in Bologna, where he established the artistic workshop Officine Artescente. He is the winner of The Location One 2008/2009 art residency program.
He is fascinated by science and its models of representation. As well as in the multiplicity of languages and signs and in their relationship with history; in tables and graphics as synthesis of philosophical, political, and economic concepts. Andrea Galvani prefers the photographic medium but often uses other mediums, most of all video, drawing and wall painting.

Strackfus’s works recall the materials of Italy’s “Arte Povera” movement of the 1960’s, as well as the mixed collages of earlier Cubist, Futurist and Constructivist artists. An enduring inspiration for the artist has been Picasso’s animal sculptures created out of recycled materials as well as his longtime apprenticeship with Salvatore Scarpitta.
Streckfus offers the working proof that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure: his work consists in searching, recycling and recombining throwaway objects to make poetic images of animals in which a kind of Surrealist simultaneity exists between what was and what is.
“The faculty of Streckfus, Luigi Sansone writes, of seeing in various objects, otherwise discarded and considered rubbish, the components essential to the creation of his animals, makes us reflect on the inexhaustible capacity of this sculptor to interpret in an artistic key the ancient philosophical theory of Parmenides: "Nothing is created, nothing destroyed".
Launch of

"0.00 Night: a Partnership between Zeropuntozerozero Edizioni and Moleskine®", an interactive exhibit and limited edition Moleskine notebook curated by journalist Olivia Fincato with photographs from the Italian photographer Renato D'Agostin.
Zeropuntozerozero Edizioni is a multidisciplinary independent publishing studio focusing on culture, art and photography editorial projects.
0.00 Night is the carefully selected result of over 200 personal answers to the question “What is Night for you?”. Visitors to the VIP Armory Show event at the Italian Cultural
Institute will be encouraged to continue featuring their own photographs, drawings, sketches and quotes that express the ways they feel about and experience the night.
All submissions will be collected for the potential use in future collaborations.

Presentation of “Inside “
Inside is an international contemporary art and culture magazine in Italian and English, founded by Massimo Tandardini in 2003
Special focus is given to emerging artists and the connections between them, ultra-contemporary ways of communication and the avant-garde currents on which the founding principles of contemporaneousness are originated with special reference to the indeterminism that goes from the 1950s to the 1980s.
