Salon du dessin contemporain 2009

For its third édition, the Contemporary Drawing Fair will be opening its doors in a brand new space in the very heart of Paris. After the Haussmannian apartments in the avenue d'Iéna in 2007 and the office-buildings in the Saint-Augustin quarter in 2008, the 2009 edition will be taking up residence in the Carreau du Temple, a stunning example of 19th century ironwork architecture and future local forum for both sport and culture.

Thanks to the active support of Mr. Pierre Aidenbaum, Mayor of the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, sixty-three galléries will be investing this place in the making, in order to present contemporary drawing in all its different shapes and forms, upon all types of support and through all imaginable techniques: from works on paper through to video, from digital works to wall drawings. As in the previous years, the exhibitors will be presenting the work of one artist over at least a third of their stand in order to ensure the visual lisibility of the fair as a whole.

The Contemporary Drawing Fair aspires in its own way to participate in the writing of the ongoing history of drawing, a medium in its own right, and one which is strongly inscribed in today's world by the enthusiasm that it incites both in current artistic creativity and in the fields of architecture, fashion and design.

Each year since its creation, the fair has presented a private collection of drawings alongside the fair itself. This year's guest of honour: drawings from the French designer agnès b. collection.
