Eutopia is a long-term project by Filip Berte. It consists of research, installations and the building of a real habitation, which symbolises the manner in which European construction has developed. Protected Landscape is a model which represents our attitude to frontiers, migration and security. An installation reflecting the European institutions appears in The Blue Room, and in the attic a work presents Europe on a day of utopia.
Eutopia – Protected Landscape / Collective Memory Mass Grave Kunstenfestivaldesarts 09
Eutopia is an ambitious long-term project by the artist-architect Filip Berte. It consists of research, artistic installations and the building of a real habitation, which symbolises the manner in which European construction has developed, and in which each stage is bestowed with an ad hoc installation. The basement houses the Collective Memory Mass Grave, which incarnates the collective and often traumatising history of Europe.
Protected Landscape is a model which represents our attitude to frontiers, migration and security. An installation reflecting the European institutions appears in The Blue Room, and in the attic a work presents Europe on a day of utopia. The “Kunstenfestivaldesarts” is committed to supporting the production of Eutopia and in 2009 presents the accomplished installation of Protected Landscape, as well as the sketch of the Collective Memory Mass Grave.
The Eutopia show cannot remain a utopia, we think!
