Stephanie Hoppen Gallery ha il piacere di presentare il nuovo show della fotografa Louise Bobbe e dei suoi ritratti al femminile nella mostra ''Women on Women''. Bobbe lavora solamente con una vecchia macchina fotografica non automatica e i soggetti delle sue fotografie, spesso amiche dell'artista. L'atmosfera di complicita' e emotivita' permette all'artista di cogliere il soggetto in una atmosfera rilassata e tranquilla, in cui le immagini scorrono fluidamente. L'immagine finale sara' il risultato di questi stati emozionali in cui si ritraggono stati di intimita' naturale, una seduzione spontanea e l'espressione di un naturale erotismo senza volgarita'.

Le fotografie di Helen Lyon colgono perfettamente quel momento di passaggio tra l'immagine della donna nel mondo della moda e la vulnerabilita' del soggetto femminile. Le sue fotografie esprimono la bellezza femminile e rapiscono l'occhio dello spettatore. L'intimita' e' resa anche dalle dimensioni contenute di alcune fotografie.

Stephanie Hoppen Gallery is delighted to show Louise Bobbe’s photographic portraits of women for our forthcoming show ‘Women on Women’. Bobbe works with a hand-held camera alone with her subjects, friends of the artist, enabling a fluid and relaxed atmosphere that evokes a subtle mood. The finished portraits show a fleeting moment of refreshing, natural intimacy; they are seductive but not intrusive, quietly sensual rather than overtly erotic. They capture perfectly a moment between the outer layer of fashion’s dictates and the vulnerability of a true, inner self.

Helen Lyon’s photographs of women are both beautiful and arresting at once. Their small scale, muted colours and incongruous focus enable Lyon to portray a glimpsed intimacy. They are ethereal and glamorous works, the image of pared down antiqued luxury. Lyon has worked as a fashion photographer for many leading style magazines including Harper’s Bazaar and her work has appeared in titles such as Vanity Fair. Her influences are wide ranging – from iconic 1940s styling to the elegantly faded grandeur of decaying architecture. She describes her working process as being very fluid, letting the photographs ‘just happen’, building up a coherent dialogue between the artist and the model.
