V-Effekt

Anna-Catharina Gebbers, Berlin

V-Effekt is an off-site exhibition of works from the Zabludowicz Collection in Berlin. The selected moving image works all take their inspiration from existing material which is made strange by its presentation in the works. Art historical references, found footage or traditional rituals act as initiators which, during the creative process, undergo shifts that obscure the source and unveil a more complex critical situation. Works by Susanne Burner, Tereza Buskova, Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard, Neil Hamon, and Susanne M. Winterling.

Curated by Anna-Catharina Gebbers

An offsite exhibition of moving image works to coincide with the art forum berlin international art show and art berlin contemporary (abc).

Susanne Bürner, Tereza Bušková, Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard, Neil Hamon and Susanne M. Winterling.

As part of Anna-Catharina Gebbers’s curatorial residency with 176 / Zabludowicz Collection, we are pleased to announce V-Effekt*, an off-site exhibition of works from the Zabludowicz Collection in Berlin. The selected moving image works all take their inspiration from existing material which is made strange by its presentation in the works. Art historical references, found footage or traditional rituals act as initiators which, during the creative process, undergo shifts that obscure the source and unveil a more complex critical situation.

176 / Zabludowicz Collection collaborates with guest curators and artists, enabling them to realize projects with the Zabludowicz Collection and the exhibition space at 176 Prince of Wales Road, London. Anna-Catharina Gebbers is the current guest curator at 176 and this exhibition makes up part of In and Out of Place, her ongoing project for 176 / Zabludowicz Collection which examines the idea of collecting and collections from various perspectives.

In August 2008, 176 / Zabludowicz Collection and Gebbers invited over 100 artists to be part of In and Out of Place / The Krautcho Club, a collection based project exhibited in both Berlin and London.

The final exhibition of Gebbers’s residency will be held at 176 from 25 February – 9 May 2010.

V-Effekt consists of existing moving image works from the Zabludowicz Collection exhibited at Bibliothekswohnung, a project space run by Anna-Catharina Gebbers.
