Fenster - Windows. Book Launch
In the fall of 2009, Sigmar Polke (1941 - 2010) completed a cycle of 12 luminous windows for the Grossmuenster Cathedral in Zurich, setting a new benchmark in the relationship between art and church. This book has now been published to commemorate Polke's last great project. In the richly illustrated publication, the design of the windows is integrated into the artist's oeuvre as a whole. The thoughtful essays provide a profound and, at times, unexpected insight not only into the art historical underpinnings of the cycle but also into the design process and execution of the windows. The book was initiated and accompanied by Sigmar Polke. With contributions by: Gottfried Boehm, Jacqueline Burckhardt, Bice Curiger, Ulrich Gerster, Regine Helbling, Claude Lambert, Kaethi La Roche, Katharina Schmidt, and Marina Warner. 11am, admission free.
