Pablo Helguera (Mexico City, 1971) is a visual and performance artist
living in New York. He has recently exhibited at the Bronx Museum,
Mediaterra festival in Athens, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Museum
of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires, PS1 New York and at the Osthaus
Museum in Hagen, Germany.
He has shown individually in New York, a
Zagreb, Bogota, Mexico City, Chicago, and Berlin. He has performed at
the Viper New Media Festival in Basel, Randolph Street
The Instituto de la Telenovela (ININTES) is an actual research
organization spearheaded by artist Pablo Helguera. Its purpose is to
explore the social and economical impact of televised Latin American
popular culture in diverse regions of the world by means of social
research, historical documentation, and artistic commentary.
The
Institute is presented through research, papers, website information
and exhibition displays. The first launch of the Institute will take
place at the Galerija P74 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with further venues
in Eastern Europe, the U.S. and Latin America.
