ACCA, Melbourne

The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art presents a dynamic program of exhibitions and public events that showcase the best of Australian and International contemporary arts practice. ACCA is set in the Domain parklands, near the Shrine of Remembrance, the Royal Botanic Gardens, and Latrobe's Cottage, best of all it's free to visit.

David Shea - Artist talk and performance
Since 1985 Shea has worked extensively as an improvisor, composer, club dj, and collaborator with many artists of the downtown New York scene.

Aperto - Graeme Leak electronics/percussion, dj Shake'n'Bake turntables part of the Slave Pianos International Biennale 2000- Darius Kesminas, Michael Stevenson, Neil Kelly and Rohan

19 - 23 July - Performance by David Cross at ACCA - Viscous "Cross's Viscous is the most unsettling, indeed horrific, performance work I've ever witnessed...." Bruce James, The Sydney Morning herald

EXHIBITIONS
to 16 July -Value - New paintings by Archibald Prize winner, Adam Cullen. Cullen presents a series of new paintings which blend abstracted and figurative forms, combining graffiti style motifs, simple stick figures, text and colour field. Value explores the notion of the 'failed personality' and the attendant themes of violence, death and sex. Somewhere Special - Mixed media work by Scottish artist-in-residence, Zoe Walker Highlighting the metaphorical baggage - ideas, expectations, fantasies and hopes - which attend our travels, indeed those very things that keep us travelling, Walker parodies her own attempts to come to terms with the Australian environment, trying to make the unfamiliar familiar.
