Sixty-seven works of art representing forty-three contemporary painters and sculptors from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will tour five major US cities begining in January. The Baltic Art Exhibition will hold its world premiere with a gala benefit at New York`s National Arts Club January 25, where it will be on display until February 12.
From New York the exhibition will travel to Washington, DC.In a choice of venues that may be fitting, given the role of the International Monetary Fund in post-Soviet economics, the exhibition will be hosted in the IMF`s Gallery March 9 through April 8. Other cities on the tour are Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles.
An unprecedented exhibition of contemporary paintings and sculpture from the three Baltic nations will give many viewers their first glimpse of Baltic art`s irrepressible expression before and after regaining independence.
Exhibition is curated by New York based curator Barbara Crane. Full- color, hard cover commemorative exhibition catalogues will be available for $35 at each exhibition.
