sintesi del comunicato stampa

Contemporary interactions and approaches. In this three parts symposium we will explore the important relationship between arts and politics in the light of the artists presented in the Jeu de Paume during 2011. The meetings will consider how photographic, filmic or architectural writings are signs of a historical contemporary reality. Session 1: "Can social and cultural issues be vectors for a collective idea of art?" With Michelle Dizon, artist and art theorician, Andreas Fohr, artist and art theorician, Aernout Mik and Societe Realiste. It is not insignificant that a number of highly diverse authors should have discussed the work of Aernout Mik and Societe Realiste with reference to the figures of the revenant, the zombie, the ghost and the wanderer. These are figures that exist between two conflicting spaces in which temporality is defined in terms of a duality: it contracts and expands at the same time. Floating in the air and tunnelling into the earth become complementary states, ways of keeping alive those leaps or bursts in which the body moves forward or becomes absent. This body is not only physical, it is also what establishes mental contact with experiences drawing on references to utopia, alienation, immigration, architecture and political historicity. Symposium directed by Elvan Zabunyan, art historian. (in the image: Aernout Mik, Communitas 2010)
