The idea The two main themes of Art Frankfurt are: New
Attitudes - Young Galleries and the Art of the 90s (Hall 1.1) is
a forum unique at art fairs in its variety and internationality.
Exhibiting at reduced stand hire prices, an active, new
generation of artists and gallery owners is risking the step
into the 21st century and they will be playing a leading role at
the Art Frankfurt. Nothing is left to be desired here by
collectors with an innovative spirit on the lookout for
something new. The desire to take risks, the courage to
experiment, play with various artistic media and set out in
new directions are the aspects which dominate the
programme. Several galleries are venturing into Hall 1.2 this
year ... Modern Art from the 60s to the Present (Hall 1.2) is
another main theme of the fair. The wide spectrum of artwork
ranges from well-known, internationally traded artists to new
discoveries from various European countries. Assured
quality and realistic prices turn buying art into a pleasure. In
Hall 1.2, domestic and foreign galleries will be offering works
of art which represent the artistic positions of the most recent
past as well as newer trends which combine a sense of
tradition with contemporary forms of expression.
Furthermore, Art Frankfurt presents special forums on
various topics: ....
Edition District (Hall 1.1)
The Multiple District is to become the Edition District. As the
very first trade fair, the Art Frankfurt is offering several
German, Austrian and Swiss art magazines the opportunity of
exhibiting their editions at regular stands. Around 20 editors
have already presented their works of art in series at the
Multiple District and this is now being expanded to include
the art magazines’ editions. Also included in the Edition
District: the Art Frankfurt Edition which has been published by
the organizers since 1995..
Artists’ Books (Hall 1.1)
There is no other fair giving so much space to this small but
exquisite specialized area as the Art Frankfurt does. New at
the Art Frankfurt 2000: a special exhibition presenting very
rare Russian artists’ books from the beginning of this
century.
ArtCinema (Hall 1.1)
After being introduced in 1999, the ArtCinema will again
enhance the Art Frankfurt this year. Artists’ videos - old and
new, long and short - will be given a professional platform. A
daily changing non-stop programme in Hall 1.1 will give an
insight into the various forms and possibilities of this
medium.
