Reveille is a new improvisation ensemble which first
performed together at the Women's International Trombone Circle and
Hang (WITCH) in the summer of 2001. Reveille features trombonists
Abbie Conant (Germany), Julie Josephson (New York City), and Sarah
Cline (San Francisco), who have been performing together in various
configurations for twenty years. Cline and Josephson were students
together at New England Conservatory and Conant has a Masters from
Juilliard. Since its inception, Reveille has performed in the United
States in Northern California, Taos, Oklahoma City, and New York, and
in Europe in Muenster and Cologne, Germany.
Reveille brings the voices of women artists to the forefront. The
music is at turns humorous, brash, mournful, meditative, but always
innovative and thought provoking. Although it is "new music", and
many moments do not exist within traditional western harmony or
rhythm, the openness and humanity of the performers make it
accessible to all audiences.
