Chicago-born artist Amie Siegel presents her DDR/DDR, a film essay about contemporary life in the former East Germany
MoMA's ongoing showcase for innovation on screen, Modern Mondays allows contemporary filmmakers and moving image artists to present their work directly to audiences. On April 19, as a prelude to Kino! 2010, Chicago-born artist Amie Siegel presents her DDR/DDR (2008), a film essay about contemporary life in the former East Germany. Born in Chicago in 1974, Siegel graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Bard College before heading to Berlin on the DAAD Berliner-Kunstlerprogram. There, she has created a number of distinguished installations and single-screen moving image pieces. On April 26, Argentine filmmaker Matias Pineiro presents the North American premiere of his fiendishly clever and sophisticated feature They All Lie.
