The international galleries attending the 44th Art Cologne cover the entire spectrum of the fine arts of the 20th and 21st centuries. Offering a showcase of select works and carefully assembled presentations, they provide a fascinating insight into the past and present of the artistic avant-garde. Modern and post-war occupy level 1. Level 2 present contemporary galleries, as well as Open Space and New Contemporaries, Art Cologne's proven platforms for the presentation of young and cutting-edge international art.
The 44th ART COLOGNE will take place April 21-25, 2010. The last edition of the ART COLOGNE proved able to meet the challenges of the new economy by physical consolidation, conceptual expansion and easy access to the cultural riches of the Rhineland. The 44th Internationaler Kunstmarkt will build on this model. Located again in Levels 1 and 2 of Hall 11 of the Koelnmesse grounds in Cologne-Deutz, the 44th ART COLOGNE will showcase 180 modern, post-war and contemporary galleries.
Modern and post-war will occupy level 1. Level 2 will present contemporary galleries, as well as Open Space and New Contemporaries, ART COLOGNE's proven platforms for the presentation of young and cutting-edge international art.
Once again, the international galleries attending the 44th ART COLOGNE will cover the entire spectrum of the fine arts of the 20th and 21st centuries. Offering a showcase of select works and carefully assembled presentations, they will provide a fascinating insight into the past and present of the artistic avant-garde. No other art fair offers an overview of such concentration and quality.
In what is a reflection of today’s globalised art market, the galleries participating in ART COLOGNE come from all the major art centres of the world, including established markets in the West as well as emerging ones in the East and South.
For the 44th ART COLOGNE in April 2010 (21st-25th) 200 International Galleries will present Modern, Post-war and cutting-edge Contemporary art in the world’s oldest fair for Art of the Avantgarde.
The most important Rhineland Museums, Kunsthalls and Kunstvereine have again joined forces to pool a top-quality programme of exhibitions and events, fine-tuned to coincide with the Fair. Among the many highlights, Fischli/Weiss will receive the Wolfgang Hahn Award. Wade Guyton and Jochen Lempert will open at the Museum Ludwig; Alexandra Birken at the Koelnischer Kunstverein; Liam Gillick in the Kunst und Ausstellungs Hall, Bonn; Erwin Wurm in the Kunst Museum Bonn, Katharina Fritsch in KIT – Kunst im Tunnel and Monika Sosnowska in the K21 Museum in Düsseldorf.
To underline the cooperative character of the project, an attractive programme of talks with artists being shown in the museums or on the fair will be presented during the ART COLOGNE – in the Rhineland-Lounge. As a result, the Rhineland will once more be a must-see destination for art lovers in April 2010
