German-Spanish cultural conference invites public participation
Art and Crisis. How do artists experience the economic crisis? How far does the crisis affect the fine arts in Germany and Spain? What strategies are being developed by private and public players? Which are the opportunities generated by the crisis? These questions are the focus of the fourth German-Spanish Cultural Conference, organised by the Instituto Cervantes, Berlin and the Goethe-Institut from May 27th to May 29th 2010 in Berlin. Prominent figures of the German and Spanish art world will come together to discuss the consequences for the fine arts in the current financial and economic situation in order to develop possible approaches and solutions. The inauguration of the conference by Spanish author Felix de Azua and Klaus Staeck, president of the Akademie der Kunste, will take place on May 27th at 6pm at the Akademie der Kunste, Pariser Platz. Contributions by German conceptual artist Christian Jankowski and Spanish artist Santiago Sierra will form an integral part of the conference.
