Nicolas Desmarchelier (acoustic guitar) & Olivier Toulemonde (acoustic objects) / MORGE (trombone and speakers solo)
Nicolas Desmarchelier (acoustic guitar) & Olivier Toulemonde (acoustic objects). This duo work together from a long time. In their first CD - Bug, recorded in 2000 - the electric guitar played with computer in a continuous battle of sounds, with cut-up and peaks of energy. Today the music from Nicolas Desmarchelier and Olivier Toulemonde has won some degrees of calm and silence, but has stilled keeped his intensity. The instruments are now 'unplugged' and the acoustic guitar deals in an experimental way with acoustic objects. Nicolas Desmarchelier scratch his guitar on all sides, not using only strings but all the body of the instrument. He has developped an unbelievable range of sounds, and plays with a real economy and high precision, in a perfect sense of time and space. Olivier Toulemonde carves the sound with an improbable set of acoustic objects and reveals for each of them, like a clever wizard, some amazing frequencies and unwaited sound caracteristics. 'Definitely not easy listening, but one to make your hair stand up' - Frans De Waard. MORGE (trombone and speakers solo). This is more or less some 'listening experiences' proposed by Mathias Forge. He works on trombone with places, acoustics and sonic surroundings. From that, he imagines a piece, mostly improvised. It depends of the room but he can play acoustic or amplified and try to make us listening to a little bit more than a solo, inscribing his interventions in the soundscape. MORGE likes confronting his playing with places where he's invited. With all that staff, it could create a minimal, peculiar and living music. Some solo concerts in the last 4 years : London, Nantes, Rennes, Rouen, Cork, Bruxelles, Liege, Den Haag, Caen, Dunkerque, St Etienne, Bourges.
