From 19.00 to 20.15: Leah Capaldi
Collapsing the boundaries between performance and sculpture, Leah Capaldi explores
themes of exploitation, power and object in response to cultural influences.
Challenging gendered and political stereotypes, her performances are embedded with
social referents. Leah Capaldi is producing a new work for the evening.
19.15: Cally Spooner, A Solo Event For Thinking, Version 4
With outputs ranging from performance, film and broadcasting, Cally Spooner writes
in dialogue to script the anxieties and obstructions of turning theory into thought,
thought into text and text into events. She is proposing a new work as part of an
on-going system in her practice.
19.45: Karina Bisch, ca c'est Paris!
Karina Bisch generally develops her work as a response to modernist, architectural
geometry. Each work begins with existing forms that have undergone many
manipulations and reformulations, dismantling modernist codes through introducing
external references such as contemporary film or music. At DRAF she is staging her
theatrical performance ç a c'est Paris!, a series of tableaux vivants premiered in
Rome and shown for the first time in London.
20.15: Danai Anesiadou
Following her participation in the 5th Berlin Biennale in 2008 Danai Anesiadou has
increasingly gained recognition as an independent performance artist. Her works,
structured around chains of associations, show a deep fascination for cinema and
incorporate iconography related to her Greek background as well as to B-movies and
Nouvelle Vague films. She is showing for the first time in London, following her
solo presentation at the Kunsthalle Basel last month, and is producing a new work.
Please note: for Danai Anesiadou's work the doors of the gallery will be closed.
The evening of events and performances is curated by Vincent Honoré. It will be an
occasion for a late viewing of Miriam Cahn's first solo exhibition in London.
The performance by Karina Bisch is supported by Institut Français du Royaume-Uni.
The production of Danai Anesiadou's work is supported by Elisa Platteau & Cie
Gallery, Brussels.

At DRAF she is staging her theatrical performance ça c'est Paris!, a series of tableaux vivants premiered in Rome and now shown for the first time in London.
Collapsing the boundaries between performance and sculpture, Leah Capaldi (b. 1985 in England, lives in London) explores themes of exploitation, power and object in response to cultural influences. Challenging gendered and political stereotypes her performances are embedded with social referents.
The evening will also be an occasion to view Miriam Cahn's solo exhibition.
With outputs ranging from performance, film and broadcasting, Cally Spooner (b. 1983 in England, lives in London) writes in dialogue to script the anxieties and obstructions of turning theory into thought, thought into text and text into events.
