A dynamic, contemporary art fair, with an "under the radar" selection. Dedicated to promoting international galleries which are supporting emerging artists, the fair will hold its fourth edition. "Urbanity" is the theme of the second international artist's film festival in partnership with the Observatoire de l'art contemporain. The ARTE/cutlog prize will be awarded.
cutlog, a Parisian, cutting-edge contemporary art fair dedicated to promoting international emerging or established galleries which are supporting emerging artists, will hold its fourth edition from the 18th to the 21st of October 2012. The galleries of cutlog 2012 will present artworks from their emerging artists, as well as the latest works from their established positions. cutlog is both an alternative and a complement to the other art fairs, focused on presenting under-the-radar galleries. It offers a platform to up and coming artists, as well as a bridge between galleries and established collectors. Held under the dome of the Bourse de Commerce, France’s historical equivalent of Wall Street. It is a skip and a jump away from the Grand Palais and the Louvre. There, in the circular, 1000 meter square room, it disrupts the typical, stern patterns of fairs and encourages a dialogue from galleries to visitors.
Each year, it selects international and french galleries, offering a new visibility and a move away from Parisian art fairs. Since its kick-off four years ago, cutlog has steadily gathered the best selection of worldwide press, collectors, museum directors, curators and art lovers.
Over 20 000 visitors have chosen to visit cutlog and its galleries, some established, some up and coming.
Under the patronage of Madam Aurelie Filippetti, French Minister of Culture and Communication supported by the Ile de France regional council and the City of Paris, cutlog welcomed a great number of collectors and institutions, both French and international.
Among the projects exhibited in the Bourse de Commerce’s square, there will be an installation by a french artist Quentin Armand, “Orlando” and “the tree” by the Danish artist Martin Erik Andersen.
“Urbanity” is the theme of the second international artist’s film festival in partnership with the Observatoire de l’art contemporain. A part of the pre-selection is provided by the art center Le Fresnoy, National Studio of Contemporary Art.
Contest Projections will be held in the auditorium of the Bourse de Commerce on October 20th & 21st.
Sunday 21st at 2pm, a jury of personalities from the art world, culture and media will award the prizes.
Three awards will be attributed:
The “Beaux-Arts Magazine” Prize
The “Nouvelles écritures” Prize, sponsored by Montblanc
“The Discovery award”, the laureate will be screened at cutlog New York 2013
The three laureates will benefit of a diffusion of one of their works during the a-part Festival, Festival Alpilles-Provence’Art, accredited Marseille-Provence 2013
Faithful to cutlog, the bank Pictet & Cie, main partner of the event creates the prize “cutlog Gallery” which will reward a gallery.
ARTE states its determination in discovery and avant-garde.
The ARTE/cutlog prize will be awarded to an artist.
