The Big Bamboozle

Camden Arts Centre, London

For one day only Camden Arts Centre will be transformed into the imaginary studio and bohemian seaside home of artist Finchley Arkwright-Keslake Essendine.

comunicato stampa

The Big Bamboozle is a raucous celebration of the life and times of Finchley Arkwright-Keslake-Essendine (F.A.K.E.).
Camden Arts Centre will be transformed into Arkwright-Keslake-Essendine’s 1920s bohemian home, and the garden into her favourite seaside get-away, complete with beach huts and pub. During the day there will be family activities, stalls and workshops to enjoy; while the evening’s ticketed party will feature special performances and the auction finale in the artist’s exclusive salon.

Day time programme
2.00 - 5.00pm. Free, no bookings required.

Join us for an afternoon of activities to entertain, enlighten and bamboozle all ages, as we throw open the doors of Finchley’s studio and transport you to her favourite seaside haunts. Browse some of her epoch-defining artworks and perhaps even make a few of your own. Street Feast will be on hand to provide delicious snacks and meals.

Entry is free. Donations toward each activity support Camden Arts Centre’s residency programme.

Evening Party
7.00pm until late. Tickets £99.00

At dusk Camden Arts Centre will be transformed into a glamorous bohemian home and seaside haunt, hosting an evening of art and salty excess. Champagne will flow as Louisa Buck takes you on a raucous tour of Finchley’s life and work; followed by a street food supper from Street Feast, promenade performances by Silvia Ziranek, Jefford Horrigan, the Dolly Mixtures and more, and an auction of all the Mimicist artworks that have, as yet, evaded the Fraud Squad. Book tickets and learn more.

The Big Bamboozle, in partnership with Outset Contemporary Art Fund and writer Sally O’Reilly will help the Centre raise an ambitious £100,000 to support the residency programme. Running for over 22 years, the programme provides unique opportunities for artists, offering them practical support, resulting in new work and public participation.
