In 2002 permanent exhibition of sculpture works by Jan Koniarek entered cultural life in Trnava. Artistic message of Jan Koniarek (30. 1. 1878 Voderady - 4. 5. 1952 Trnava) became substantial for Slovak modern sculpture. The extension of the gallery building of the Koppel house and realisation of permanent exhibition is an exceptional step forward and currently are presented approximately 60 works by Jan Koniarek.

Slovak-Austrian continuation of a three-year international project
Re:Location 1 - 7/Shake, which is organised by Art Centres of Europe. This
project consists of seven European institutions and important persons of
contemporary art and art-historical scene. In the year 2000 an international
network Art Centres of Europe launched its activities, in which except for
Jan Koniarek Gallery (Viera Jancekova) and a O.K Center in Linz (Martin
Sturm) participate also: Enrico Lunghi (art director of the Casino
Luxembourg in Luxemburg), Maria Rus Bojan and Irina Cios (ArtStudio in Cluj
and the International Center for Contemporary Arts, Bucharest) from Romania,
Adam Budak (curator of the Centre for Contemporary Art in Laznia, Gdansk in
Poland), Heike Munder (curator of migros museum for contemporary art in
Zurich, Switzerland). The project is supported by the program of European
union Culture 2000 and Austrian Cultural Forum in Bratislava.

In 2002 permanent exhibition of sculpture works by Jan Koniarek entered
cultural life in Trnava.
Artistic message of Jan Koniarek (30. 1. 1878 Voderady - 4. 5. 1952 Trnava)
became substantial for Slovak modern sculpture. The extension of the gallery
building of the Koppel house and realisation of permanent exhibition is an
exceptional step forward and currently are presented approximately 60 works
by Jan Koniarek. Not only does the exhibition allow visual experience, the
visitors are also enabled to feel and touch the art, as all the sculptures
except for those made of marble are destined for haptic experience.
