On the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the inauguration by H.M. Queen Sofia, on the 25 July 1999, of the stone choir by Maestro Mateo, Canal + is going to broadcast a special programme featuring the first concert to be held in the room in the Cathedral Museum, Santiago, where over half of the upper stonework is on display. The concert will be given by In itinere, the University of Santiago Chamber Group.
On the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the inauguration by H.M. Queen Sofia, on the 25 July
1999, of the stone choir by Maestro Mateo, Canal + is going to broadcast a special programme
featuring the first concert to be held in the room in the Cathedral Museum, Santiago, where over
half of the upper stonework is on display. The concert will be given by In itinere, the University
of Santiago Chamber Group, who will be playing the instruments reconstructed in wood from the
stone originals in the 'Pórtico de la Gloria'. The reconstruction of these instruments and that of
the stone choir were both sponsored by the Pedro Barrié de la Maza Foundation, which since its
beginnings has paid special attention to restoring and disseminating the cultural heritage of
Galicia.
