In Optical Illusion various Dutch and international artists reveal the magic
in media art. By playing with space, light and shadow, extreme close-ups or
computer techniques the art magique is brought to life. Each work poses the
question, am I really seeing what I'm seeing?

8 November 19.00 - 02.00 h.
For the museum night the building of the Netherlands Media Art Institute
will be transformed into an 'optical illusion'. Spacial designer Marcel Schm
algemeier is asked to transform the interior in which the visitor becomes a
performer in the game of light and dark, colour and sound. DJ Battle with
Jansen1s, DJ Lavaman and DJ Supèr Hubèrt. More information about the

The next few months the Netherlands Media Art Institute will give attention
to live-cinema. Live Cinema is a collaboration between Dutch organisations
for experimental art and music like Extrapool (Nijmegen), Klub Koe
('s-Hertogenbosch) and WORM (Rotterdam).
E-culture Fair
23 en 24 October
Locations: De Balie, Melkweg en Paradiso
The e-culture fair is a large-scale international event, showcasing the
state-of-the-art in the field of new media. The projects presented are not
just from one domain, but come from the cultural domain, from industry,
science and education. The Netherlands Media Art Institute presents at the
e-culture fair the Artist in Residence artists Simon Yuill and Kelli Dipple.
Among other things Kelli Dipple will host a workshop Personal Devices. Sign
in! and discover plus share the secret places of your mobile device:
functionality, connection and personality. Moreover the Institute
facilitates e-culture TV.
