Marking out a new way of presenting a specific country or region, Return Journey is an exhibition that acts as a unique journey around the United Kingdom. It presents artworks by artists from the UK which all address the various places in which the artist was born or raised.
This exhibition takes a literal look at the land in connection with the visual arts and shows a wider view of the UK, beyond the established art centres. Some of the artists directly address their place of upbringing in exhaustive detail, while others offer only fragments of a past, a place or a time. Together, the presentation takes the viewer on a journey 'back home.' It gives them the opportunity to reflect upon their own position and to consider their own history, and offers a unique way of connecting with the UK and with exhibitions in themselves.
A second part of the exhibition will take place at MOSTYN in 2017, further exploring other areas of the UK and continuing its tour and coverage.
A full-colour publication has been produced to accompany the exhibition. It features texts by the exhibition's curator, Adam Carr (Visual Arts Programme Curator, MOSTYN) and a text by Alfredo Cramerotti (MOSTYN Director).

Tom Wood – Landscapes
18 January–6 April 2014
MOSTYN | Wales is pleased to present the premiere of a major touring exhibition of previously unseen and unpublished photographic works spanning forty years by renowned photographer Tom Wood.
Adopting an open and expansive approach to the genre of landscape, Tom Wood - Landscapes, curated by Mark Durden, presents for the first time a selection of over 100 of Wood's extensive and varied pictures made in response to the West of Ireland, Merseyside and North Wales.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a forthcoming three-volume catalogue, published by Steidl, which will be the definitive publication of Tom Wood's work on landscape—each volume representing a different geographical area and period of work. The exhibition will also feature an ambitious public engagement project, the Biscuit Tin Photo Archive, in which groups and individuals will be invited to share their own images of rural life and these will come to form a constantly evolving and integral part of the exhibition.
Tom Wood – Landscapes will travel from MOSTYN to Ffotogallery in Cardiff in autumn 2014 and Aberystwyth Arts Centre in early 2015, with further exhibitions in Europe to be confirmed. Supported by Arts Council of Wales National Touring Grant.
