Tone Fink
Tone Fink (born in 1944 in Schwarzenberg, Vorarlberg/Austria, lives and works in Vienna and Schwarzach) ranks among the internationally renown figures in the Vorarlberg art scene. He studied painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Fink expanded from drawing, which has been a constant in his work for decades, to incorporate objects, film, and performance into his work. The strange and bizarre motion rituals that characterize his staged performances remind the audience of the tradition of absurdist theater. Fink's main focus is the extension of the concept of art - he himself is a master at playfully crossing the borders of the traditional art disciplines. An example of this are Fink's tactile paintings consisting of row after row of nubs and thorns, his archetypal furniture sculptures, as well as his graphic oeuvre - all works that are captivating not only for their creativity in discovering new forms but also for their communicative quality, the way they address the observer directly. Despite the ambivalent complexity of Tone Fink's work it can be seen as a homogeneous whole that expresses itself with passionate energy yet with no clear purpose or aim.
Tone Fink has developed four new work series for the Kunsthaus Bregenz. These projects - which clearly illustrate his principle artistic themes - will be presented in those areas of the Kunsthaus whose public exposure can best bring out the thematic and dialogrelatedOpening: work principles of the artist: the KUB billboards, the glass façade of the Kunsthaus, the KUBArena in the foyer, and as crowning event there will be a "birthday performance".
Opening: 05 I 12 I 8 pm.
