Reception for the Artists: Saturday, January 10th, from 6 to 9pm
Paradise Lost and Found is a collaborative adventure between New York artist
Rebecca Potts and Los Angeles artist Amy Robinson. Through drawings and
sculptures they explore "lost landscapes" of their respective cities and
reassemble them as an imaginative Paradise. In three individual project
rooms, the artists' focus on ordinary spaces and everyday objects that are
typically overlooked.
Power lines, mate less socks, and car ads are just
some landmarks that are featured in this exhibition. Through craft of the
artists' hands pedestrian materials and utilitarian objects are transformed
in to fantasy landscapes. In these rooms, the artists' distinct styles
create a conversation of the world at large and the world of mark making.
Rebecca and Amy met this summer at Skowhegan School of Painting and
Sculpture in upstate Maine. Despite coming from opposite coasts, they
discovered many similarities in their visual language. This is where the
dialogue began. Please join us in the convergence of this project that
continues to cross state lines. January 10th- 6-9pm.
