Homelesshome Project: Piece of Home
Saturday 14 February
14.00 + 17.00 hrs
Today we would like to invite you to a project by Tomoko Take (1970, Japan),
consisting of a workshop and a fashion show.
Japanese artist Tomoko Take, who is based in Amsterdam since 1997, works on
several long term projects dealing with the notion of art in public space.
Based on the understanding that small solutions can influence big problems,
her projects often touch upon social-political and cultural issues.
Last year Tomoko Take was selected for the prestigious Prix de Rome/Art and
Public Space, for which she developed the Homelesshome Project. In this
project she considered the position of homeless people and, specifically,
our feelings of 'home' en 'homelessness'.
The follow-up project in Quarantine Series, titled Homelesshome: Piece of
Home, provides original design clothing to homeless people, and consists of
a workshop and a fashion show.
14.00 hrs: Workshop
The workshop is open to 30 participants, including 10 to 15 homeless people.
Participants are provided with fabrics and pattern-designs. If you want to
participate. Reservations before 7
Feb. Costs for non-homeless participants: 10 euro.
17.00 hrs: Fashion Show
The results of the workshop will be shown to the public during a fashion
show, with specially composed music by Mr. & Mrs. Cameron. After the fashion
show the participants may keep the piece of clothing they have showed. The
fashion show is open to everybody, free of charge.
Special thanks: Stichting Z, Stichting Voila/PUK, Makom/Makom Art Club,
Alexander van Slobbe, Mr. & Mrs. Cameron (music). Homelesshome Project is
