Young curators inquire
Pardon, Which Floor?
What kind of propositions can be made against the globalisation of world order and the oppressive dynamics of city life within art conjuncture? “PARDON, WHICH FLOOR?” examines the rightful questions addressed by young curators on the possibilities of transformation within the field of art through the inter-relation between the city-scape and nature. The exhibition pursues these questions and possible responses that can be evoked.
This exhibition is not intended to provide a report on city and nature for the audience. We designed the two parts of the exhibition as remote as possible, but also let them preserve their mutual spaces for dialogue. Breaking down the widely examined dichotomy of city vs. nature into its building blocks, we put forward the question whether curatorship reveals what is most striking by highlighting the physical space, the works or the inter-connections. Belonging to a generation staring into the physical impacts of different modes of globalisation, we chose the informal question “Which floor?” that carries the resonance of concrete and alienation in order to reflect on post-modern utopias, mega-cities, the widening gap between art and its audience and the psychological state this (non)belonging has put us all into.
