Mostly 19. The exhibition combines work from a wide range of disciplines to be considered; from fine and applied arts, to design, fashion and graphic. 'We've Got Mail II' presented a history of the Royal Mail alongside artworks.
Mostyn Open 19
This year, MOSTYN Open 19 took the idea of being ‘open’ a step further. For the first time the gallery invited work from a wide range of disciplines to be considered; from fine and applied arts, to design, fashion and graphic communication. The works selected reflect this diversity, as well as the international reach of the Open, with artists from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal and the USA, as well as from across the UK.
MOSTYN Open 19 has been selected by Claire Norcross, Designer; Philip Hughes, Director of Ruthin Craft Centre; Marinella Senatore, Artist; Adam Carr, Visual Arts Programme Curator of MOSTYN; Alfredo Cramerotti, Director of MOSTYN and you, the visiting audience, for the People’s Choice.
Since its inception in 1989, the Open has functioned as a call-out to artists of any age and residing place to enter, with an exhibition of the selected artworks taking place at MOSTYN, and a prize of £10,000 awarded to a single artist or collective. A prize of £1000 will also be awarded to the People’s Choice, which will be determined by the artist who receives the most votes from the visiting public during the exhibition’s run.

We’ve Got Mail II
The fourth in a series that examines the MOSTYN building’s rich heritage, We’ve Got Mail II continues the gallery’s response to its former use as a postal sorting office.
In 2014 We’ve Got Mail I presented a history of the Royal Mail alongside artworks by contemporary artists. This second show looks
specifically at the history of the postcard in the town of Llandudno and presents a selection of classic examples of the use of the postcard in the visual arts.
A full-colour publication has been produced to accompany the exhibition.
