Festival of new media art.
A three week exhibition of works by media artists scheduled to be
launched September 22 on an LED video billboard at the corner of
Yonge and Eglinton Streets in midtown Toronto, Canada.
The YEAR ZERO ONE collective will select approximately 12 works which
best make use of the `site specific' LED screen medium, in short
format - 'image bytes' without the use of audio. Works must be 15
seconds in length and provided in the following format: uncompressed
avi, 112 pixels high x 160 pixels wide.
Each selected artwork will be looped and broadcast up to 4 times per
hour. Approximately 100,000 people per day pass through what is one
of Toronto's busiest intersections - exposing your work to over 2
million people during the 3 week exhibition run. The exhibition will
be archived in quicktime format and will be viewed by a world wide
audience on http://www.year01.com All selected artists will receive
exhibition/screening fees.
YEAR ZERO ONE is an on-line artist run centre which operates as a
network for the dissemination of digital culture and new media
through net.art exhibitions, an extensive media arts directory, and
the YEAR01 Forum.
