Fabrice Gygi - Guy de Cointet
One of the most famous Swiss artist from Geneva, Gygi, is currently working on a large exhibition project for the first floor of the museum. He has already mentionned his will to remove the many "cells" of the floor to show the original architecture of the building, the ex-factory of the "Société des Instruments de Physique". On the occasion, Mamco will produce new works by the artist and the show will later be presented in Switzerland and Germany.
Guy de Cointet (F)
This French artist(1934-1983), early settled in California and little known by the public, was a reference for important artists such as Paul Mc Carthy and Mike Kelley because of its relation to the object, its way of building language with layers and its work on the colour-volume. This retrospective, organised for Mamco by the independant curator, Marie de Brugerolle, will gather historical pieces (drawings, paintings, note books, films...) as well as reconstruction of four large theater sets.
