15. Istanbul Art Fair

As the meeting point for art world in international plan, ARTIST 2005 will deliver several honorary award this year also. The Honorary Award for Artist will be given to sculpturist Hüseyin Gezer, because of his worthy contributions to the art of sculpture. The Honorary Award for Critic will be given to Zeynep İnankur, The Honorary Award for Art Supporting Institution to Radikal Newspaper, and The Honorary Award for Collectioner Institution to Anadolu University, Museum of Contemporary Arts.

This year, the fair will take place at four different halls which cover a total of 17 thousand m2. Artists from Greece, Armenia, Syria, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Macedonia, Italy, France, North Cyprus Turkish Republic, Polonia, Russia, Belgium, Iran, United States of America, South Korea, Canada, Columbia, Irak, Holland, Pakistan and Germany are participating this year’s fair.

Approximately 800 artists among whom circa 110 are from abroad at 110 art galleries and art institutions can be visited this year.

There will be an exhibition of The Honorary Artist Hüseyin Gezer’s works with the contribution of Alternative Art Works

A special open air place will be prepared for a “Workshop” place by Sinan Demirbaş Lithography Atelier.

“Publication and Serial Publication Projects” exhibition has been prepared by Mimar Sinan University, Fine Arts Faculty, Department of Graphic Design.

Independent exhibitions of ARKHE, Güneşeresim, Kamil Abi, Düz Kontak, Kolektif Sanatçı Birliği and gençsanat.org.

Among private works there will be a special exhibition prepared by Ulusal Kanal. Under the name of “National Campaign of Artist,” there will be more than 100 artists’ works at this exhibition.

“Omma Center of Contemporary Art,” from Greece is participating the fair with its 31 artists from 12 different countries.

The German artist group DPNI (Drei Bringen Plastik Nach İstanbul) is preparing an activity “Trio, Brings Plastic to Istanbul” with its three artists. “Who belongs to the city? How public are the public places? How private are the private places?” are the main questions through which the artists are sharing their experiences with the artists of Turkey.

Boğaziçi University, Fine Arts Department; Marmara University, Education Faculty Fine Arts Department; Mimar Sinan University, Yıldız Technical University, Anadolu University and Yeditepe University have different exhibitions where you can see the works of painting, sculpture, ceramic, video art and performing arts students

The art-lovers will have a chance to take part of two panel during ARTIST 2005
