New Museum of Contemporary Art
The artist investigates contemporary life in Western societies through work that engages with both architecture and design, exploring the psychological, biological and economic aspects of domestic and urban existence. This exhibition features the work she has created under the name A-Z Administrative Services. Her Living Units, Escape Vehicles and the complete line of A-Z Personal Uniforms will be on view at the New Museum, as will new work developed at A-Z West, the artist's studio in California.
Critical Space
One of the most influential American artists to emerge in the last fifteen years, Andrea Zittel investigates contemporary life in Western societies through work that engages with both architecture and design, exploring the psychological, biological and economic aspects of domestic and urban existence. This exhibition, the first comprehensive solo exhibition of Zittel's work in the United States, features the work she has created under the name A-Z Administrative Services. Her Living Units, Escape Vehicles and the complete line of A-Z Personal Uniforms will be on view at the New Museum, as will new work developed at A-Z West, the artist's studio in California.
Andrea Zittel: Critical Space is co-organized by the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. The exhibition has been made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Federal agency; the patrons, benefactors and donors to the Contmeporary Arts Museum Houston's Major Exhibition Fund; and the Peter Norton Family Foundation. While awaiting the opening of our new state-of-the-art facility at 235 Bowery, the New Museum of Contemporary Art will be operating an interim exhibition space on the ground floor of the Chelsea Art Museum, home of the Miotte Foundation, 556 West 22nd Street (at 11th Avenue).
The New Museum Store will also operate from this location. The two dynamic institutions will be operating independently under one roof in the heart of NYC's contemporary art scene.

Admission: 6 dollars general; 3 dollars students and seniors. Free for members. Free for visitors 18 and under.
