An exhibition of projected imagery. What is implied by the notion of "sequence" - a sense of order, a linear narration? How are relationships formed as objects are coupled and read in succession? Similar to the medium of film, the slides are transformed through light and the ability for single frames to come together and tell a story.
The Pyramid Arts Center will present it's seventh
satellite exhibition, "Seeking the Sequential", an international group
exhibition of artists at the Cinema Theatre.
Jurors Harold
Coogan, Rich Della Costa, Judy Levy, and Sarah Webb have chosen six
artists: Lorenza Lucchi Basili, Cynthia Cable, Rick S. Hill, Abby Lammers,
Maria Minneci, and Antonio Petracca, for what will be a provocative
exhibition.
"Seeking the Sequential" is an exhibition of projected imagery. What is
implied by the notion of "sequence" - a sense of order, a linear narration?
How are relationships formed as objects are coupled and read in succession?
Similar to the medium of film, the slides are transformed through light and
the ability for single frames to come together and tell a story. Whether
existing within the realm of dream and memory, or purely as studies of
light, color and form, "Seeking the Sequential" presents the work of six
artist's interpretations, themes and variations united by the shared making
of sequential, time-based imagery.
This exhibition will be screened via slide projector, at the Cinema Theatre
prior to each day's first film, during the month of April 2001. A program
guide and title slides will provide an introduction to the artists. The
admission to the Cinema Theatre is $3.00. Please call (716) 271-1785 to
check movie listings and showtimes. Without the support of Jo Ann Morreale,
Jeffrey K. Root, and the entire staff at the Cinema Theatre, this
exhibition would not have been possible.
