The common assembly, responsability model of these times

1.60insurgent space is the name of a space that move itself continuously inside the cities, producing exhibitions whose intent is to put to comparison international artists with various places, different from the “institutional ones", in order to create new arguments around the art and its borders. The exhibitions are curated every month by Stefano Romano and a different curator for each event.

An on going project for 1.60insurgent space was designed and created by Armando Lulaj and it is divided in different momentums, the first one taking place now in Tirana, the research.

The project was born from an input that Stefano Romano suggested to the Albanian artist, taxis of Tirana. In Albania there are three different categories of taxes, the official ones (the yellow cabs), the totally abusive ones and those in between, which is valid to say, they are an abusive army, but at the same time they can also issue you a receipt.

The input did regard the last category as a representation of the Albanian way of life more or less. Lulaj has created a complex and at the same time a direct piece of art, a feature that is traced in every art work of the Albanian artist.

The project happens in a taxi rented to drive for free the passengers traveling in the suburbs of Tirana - Kinostudio, (Linza, Babrroi, Katrori), Kombinat, Lapreke (Kamez) and Petrele. The artist initiates a conversation with the passenger about memories of these particular locations; there is questionnaire to fill out and also a request to provide a personal prospective about that particular suburb. All actions and happenings are recorded in a minimal film all filmed inside of the taxi.

The taxi, like a read line that will connect the suburbs, the memories and the projections of casual and momentary travelers, and suburbs in slow motion, maybe to slow to be taken as a model, but because of this they may deserve more attention and responsibility. The urbanized territory is in fact one of the first objectives for the profiteers, it is an exploitation on various levels of the economic structure (primary and secondary activities).

The artist will shoot some pictures: Time out of joint, using as subject pieces of ice cubicles 1m3 size that will melt down in the selected suburbs to fire off everyone’s responsibility in confront of those frozen areas awaiting for a future that seems far and dead, but that at least will bring here, in these dirty and entropic peripheries all the forces of the new constructive power.

The whole project desires to discuss about different subjects, one of which is about Tirana as a case study of irregularity in all levels, development, architectonic, legal and human.
