Kohei Nawa uses E-Bay as source of materials. He starts his search inserting a key word, and after establishing a visual contact with the desired object, he buys it and he re-elaborates it with glass marbles and prisms that will cover and encompass the various objects, from toys to stuffed animals heads.

Even after the artist’s reinterpretation, the objects keep intact all their characteristics, because the artistic intervention is not finalized to their modification, but to alter the viewer’s perception of them. The banana will still be a banana, but what our glance will perceive will be deformed and modified. It’s not the object that changes, but the spectator’s point of view that realizes the transformation. His work is a “door’ that opens to a new dimension, and demonstrates how the reality of things is subdued to the glance and the perception of the viewer.

This young artist from Osaka is having his first show in Italy, but he has at his active various shows in Japan, the participation to the biggest international art fairs, and great interest from the critics, that have awarded him many prizes and have elected him one of the most promising figures of contemporary Asian art.
