Solero Summer Carnival 2001 STREET PARADE, 17 years! The Street Parade, climax of the Solero Summer Carnival on Saturday 28th July, begins and ends at one location. Wherever you may be on the route, you will see the splendid Street Parade passing. The Parade will not alter in size in any particular place. The ‘Coolsingel’ is the heart of the event grounds, extremely pleasant and sociable and also very busy. If you want to enjoy the Street parade in relative peace, look for another place on the route or reserve a place in the stand at the Schiedamsedijk.

Travel advice
The entire city centre is closed to traffic on Saturday 28th July. You are advised to use public transport. The event is easily reachable because the festival is situated in the centre of Rotterdam.
Plane: Rotterdam Airport, and take a bus to Rotterdam Central Station (10 minutes).
Train: Rotterdam Central Station is at walking distance (5 minutes) from the route.
If you live in the Rotterdam region take a bus, tram or metro to the centre.
Public transport information: 0900-9292 (75 ct/min).
Lost a child?
Look around you well before you move from your position. Children are often just in the vicinity.
Child tip: On the day, write the name and possibly your telephone number on the forearm of very young, playful children. It is then easier to make contact if you should loose him/her.
Warm weather?
Caribbean temperatures go with a Solero Summer Carnival. Don’t forget to take along your hat, sunglasses and perhaps sun-cream. A whole day in the warm sun can be very heavy on your skin. Make sure you get enough to drink. This is a nice occupation anyway, and extra important if you’re dancing a lot. And there certainly will be dancing!
Glass and tin
Within the festival grounds everything is served up in plastic. Do not take glass or cans with you to the location. You can cut yourself on them or trip over a can - dancing on a sprained ankle is difficult. There are a lot of children around too - another reason for leaving glass and cans at home!
Need a plaster?
There are a few First Aid Posts in the middle of the Coolsingel for issuing plasters.
Dogs
Pets are lovely animals and precious treasures, but think well before you bring them along with you: After a while the animal can no longer see the wood for the trees, and the music drives them crazy (they hear everything much louder than we do). Leave them safely at home!
Sadly, pickpockets!
Where there is a crowd, there are unfortunately always pickpockets. Put your belongings in a safe place. If you should still lose them: all objects found will be given to the Eendrachtsplein police station on Monday 30st July. They may be collected there.
